17 Feb 2022. Brain wave state, Esotericism & König

11-17 Feb 2022. Full title: Correlation between brain wave states and Schumann Resonances; Application of Esotericism to their understanding; Who was König--what was his part; and the onset of esotericism in the scientific process.

Part 0: Introduction to Schumann resonances.

Thank you for being here. I appreciate your reading my posts. This work is not for everyone. It best serves those who are advanced along their pathway, towards our common goal, at this late hour.

I'm hoping I can be useful at this point, to help folks get to the heart of what's important, relative to atmospheric electromagnetics, and SR.

I am the "Deep dive" guy, relative to SR and associated atmospheric EMF. This particular exposition, is going to be a deep dive of SR, relative to the "New Age" perspective.

This is going to be a long-term discussion of why I do not examine the link between brain wave state and Schumann resonances. It's not because there are not articles on this subject. Mainly, the reason is that there is not a direct, one-to-one correlation, as I'll be showing when I get to that point. As a tech, I'm looking for elements to more closely match-up. Simply put, this is not the case for SR-brain wave state match. That said, I'll let you make up your mind for yourself.

This is the point where we will introduce König, a former student of Professor W. O. Schumann, when he had tenure in Munich. It's important to mention here that both Schumann and König believed that there could be, likely was, a connection between the atmospheric emf resonances, and the overall health of an individual.

This connection may not necessarily have been a direct relation to brain wave states; as opposed to heart rate and nervous system malfunctions (for lack of a better word.)

I'm going to go into details on this correlation, in the course of this essay. It's important for you to see what IS there, for you to decide for yourself how close of a connection there is.

Before getting into the discussion on this rather complicated correlation, let us offer some basic refresher information first.

What are the Schumann resonances, or 'Schumann radiation' ?

"Schumann radiation (also: Schumann resonances ) is weak electromagnetic radiation of natural origin. The frequency range in which this radiation can be detected is between 7 and 30 Hz. This frequency range is also known as the ELF range (extremely low frequency).

"The cause of the radiation is the flashes of lightning that occur all over the world during thunderstorms, each of which emits a local, strong electromagnetic signal over a wide frequency range, which is called sferics and - if a thunderstorm is not too far away - can be heard on a medium wave radio as cracking or crackling is.

"The surface of the earth and the ionosphere form a flat resonator at whose resonant frequencies the radiation is at its maximum. These frequencies are determined by geometric factors, primarily the earth's circumference. The phenomenon was examined from 1952 by Winfried Otto Schumann and Herbert L. König . However, their experimental data were initially controversial; reliable evidence was only available at the beginning of the 1960s. [2]

"Physics

"In order to estimate the frequencies at which the field strength is maximum, the speed of light can be divided by the circumference of the earth to get a basic frequency of about 7.5 Hz (then exactly one wavelength "fits" into the circumference of the earth). With somewhat refined considerations regarding the size of the resonator, Schumann and König developed the frequency series f n = (c/2πa) (n(n + 1)) 1/2 Hz predicted (in this equation, a is the radius of the earth and c is the speed of light). In fact, the resonance frequencies are slightly lower and average around 7.8, 14.2, 19.6, 25.9 and 32 Hz. The frequency-dependent intensity of the radiation at the observation site also depends in a complicated way on the distance to the sources, i.e to various thunderstorm cells scattered around the globe. [3] As a result, the spectrum of the Schumann radiation is somewhat variable over time.

"Measured spectrogram of the electric field strength with Schumann resonances and technical interference signals, visible in the left half of the image as a faint vertical stripe pattern. The dominant horizontal stripes (arrows) are disturbances caused by the smallest movements of the antenna. [4]

"The field strength is low. At 7.8 Hz it is a few pT, and it is even weaker at the higher-frequency Schumann resonances. The Schumann radiation is therefore easily covered locally by artificially generated alternating fields (eg 50 Hz and subharmonics thereof). This applies not only to the magnetic, but also to the electric field components of the Schumann radiation. It is therefore generally impossible to provide evidence inside buildings.

"Schumann radiation in esotericism and pseudo-medicine

"In esoteric circles, Schumann radiation is often incorrectly associated with portions of the spectrum of the human EEG. A direct influence of Schumann radiation on human well-being is also claimed. However, due to the low intensity of the radiation and its covering by technical alternating fields, such effects are not plausible.

"Due to the static earth magnetic field, alternating fields in the Hz range are induced in an antenna (e.g. the human body) even with slight movements, the strength of which far exceeds that of Schumann radiation. Because of the static electrical field that is always present, this also applies to the electrical components of the Schumann radiation (bottom right image).

"Devices that generate magnetic fields in the frequency range of Schumann radiation are also available. Frequently, a non-existent connection between the thunderstorm-induced Schumann radiation and "normal" geomagnetism is constructed: It is argued that the earth's magnetic field is decreasing, which allegedly has negative consequences for health (example: "life field stabilizer" ).

"The field strength is currently actually decreasing by about 0.08% per year. It is not explained why this should be a health risk and why a weak alternating magnetic field can compensate for these disadvantages.

"It is also claimed by esotericists that the Schumann frequency increases with time, but this is not the case and is physically absurd since the dimensions of the earth do not change."

Discussion.

I do not necessarily agree with everything stated above. It gives us a good technical illustration of what we are talking about.

First, apparently, the web page was last updated in 2014. Since then, there's been more research that has come to light, relating to specific claims here. The claims on a decreasing magnetic field in the quantity of drop, as well as the greater meaning to our health from such a decrease in its strength.

The magnetic field is not stable. It fluctuates, due to a variety of factors. The interplanetary magnetic field is the direct link between Earth and Sun. The magnetic link from the sun varies; sometimes widely within the course of a day. The KP index is our primary means of measuring this field. For those who are following along, we know that the KP index can vascillate within a day; depending on solar output.

The internal dynamo of the planet keeps the "lower DC circuit" of the planet generating, or simply conducting, current around the globe. There are lines of current, lines of force, which conduct current around the globe, as telluric currents. The surface of the planet is connected through these lines of force, to the atmosphere, as current moves around the globe.

The particular number they gave in the article is incorrect at this point. The strength of the field is dropping 5% per decade. It's been increasingly decreasing.

The magnetic field is one of the elements that help to keep stable, in place, the ionosphere. This "layer" is comprised of multitude of layers; which is a function of the magnetospause as a whole. Ionosphere is the innermost set of layers of "atmosphere" that catch solar radiance; protecting us from the majority of output from the sun.

As the field strength decreases, so too does the reaction of the magnetopause. The ionosphere is the last defense in the chain. The ionosphere acts like a sponge for the electrons. It holds a charge of around 200,000 volts.

The ionsophere can be thought of like a sponge. It holds the electricity intact as a form of plasma. If that sponge decreases in its ability to hold electrons, it will allow more solar radiance down to us. This type of energy is far too powerful for humans to adjust to; considering we are not used to it.

Humans depend on the current state of the magnetic field to regulate a variety of functions: heart-rate, mental processing, nervous conditions, among other factors of daily living. The magnetic layers protect us, simply speaking. A lessening of this will have/is having adverse effects on our overall health.

They are correct in the factual information that the Schumann resonances are very subtle; measuring a relatively small amount of pico-Teslas. Higher Amplitude signals are lower magnetic flux strength.

Lamentations.

Explaining SR properly, to the masses, has been one of the most difficult jobs I've ever had to do, which did not involve back-breaking manual labour. To be honest, i think I'd rather dig a pile of garden soil--than to have to explain SR to those who have never heard of a spectrogram, and are not interested in knowing technically how it operates. (The spectrogram is the technological meter that gets called "The Schumann.")

I've mentioned before that Schumann Resonances falls square in the middle of science, technology, myth, mystery, and wishful thinking.

The job is to explain technically, accurately, what are Schumann resonances, and how those get measured. This includes an introduction to the detecting and recording equipment.

One of the biggest problems in having the discussion on Schumann resonances is to winnow through the science, tech, and mythos. My job here is to explain precisely what are Schumann resonances, without embellishment, in simple language that accurately describes the science underpinning the monitoring technology.

Yet, as I have also explained, because there is a degree of mythos, and mystery involved, I need to address these points. It's important for those interested to understand what is being measured. It's important for people curious about this phenomena to realize that the machines detect and measure a limited range of signal of the spectrum spectrum.

The portion that would normally be called the "spiritual aspects" of Schumann resonances, here are referred-to as the Esoteric side. This seems to be the most non-political way of phrasing things. It is important to note, that within the spiritual circles, there is such a thing as the esoteric. What is esotericism?

Part 1: Esotericism.

"Esoteric: (1) understood by or meant for only the select few who have special knowledge or interest; recondite. (2) belonging to the select few. (3) private; secret; confidential. (4) (of a philosophical doctrine or the like) intended to be revealed only to the initiates of a group: the esoteric doctrines of Pythagoras. " [Dictionary.com]

"Esotericism: Esotericism refers to the doctrines or practices of esoteric knowledge, or the quality or state of being obscure. Esoteric knowledge is that which is specialized or advanced in nature, available only to a narrow circle of "enlightened," "initiated," or highly educated people. Typically, esoteric knowledge is contrasted with exoteric knowledge, which is well-known or public knowledge perceived as informally canonic in society at large. Items pertaining to esotericism may be known as esoterica.

"Esotericism largely involves an element of initiation such as the requirement that one be tested before learning the higher truth. However, such knowledge may be kept secret not by the intention of its protectors, but by its very nature—for example, if it is accessible only to those with the proper intellectual background.

"Some overlap may exist between esotericism and mysticism; but many mystical traditions do not attempt to introduce additional spiritual knowledge, but rather seek to focus the believer's attention or prayers more strongly upon the object of devotion. A mystic is thus not necessarily an esotericist. A variety of past traditions could be classified as forms of "esotericism" due to their "inner" focus as well as their "selective" and "secretive" nature. The initiate's pathway.

There are many of our dedicated "folk tales" which feature the "heroes pathway." Gilgamesh is one. Beowulf is one. Ulysses was one. Odesseus is one.

On the pathway to enlightenment, and success, we go through a journey. Yet, as we enter this new age, we are bereft of suitable stories. Our age's epochs have not been written.

We have ancient texts that are available for those, who have been initiate, into the mysteries.

Yet, at this point, the doorways of the temples and sacred spaces are being opened, and we are not finding the true stories and tales of the ascension.

There is a huge section of the current tales of the ascension which are being written in front of you. as the language digests these spiritual terms, into a common vernacular.

As we define what "awakening" means, there's a consumption of technology and technological terms, being tossed into the mix. The Creation myths for our time involve the inclusion of technology, and sciency-sounding words.

The folk tales, and stories which humans depended upon since time immemorial have largely been silenced through scientification and Ascensionism. History is being re-written in front of your very eyes.

Unfortunately, one does not have to believe in "The Ascension" to become ensnared by the philosophical stylings, metaphysics, mythos of Ascensionism. Simply, this is the embedment of technology INTO the extant historical narrative, relating to a human's spiritual and emotional growth. Inclusion of the tech into the narrative legitimizes the ingress of network-based tech.

Spiritual growth has always been linked to the emotional growth and stability of the initiate. The tech, divests the individual of his/her personal responsibility to his or her own growth. "Collective" does not mean that we are all doing this at the same rate, or within your lifetime.

The correct path is long, arduous, and filled with snares, traps, and spikes with which to impale you. This is how it has been for humans, since the species was granted the right to autonomy.

A large part of the narrative of the initiate making his/her way through the snares and pitfalls of the pathway, is also navigating through the minefield of technological terms, and sciency-jargon; to say nothing of misrepresenting the graphical information of the detector readings.

In the proceeding discussion, I will be examining the initiate's role, moving forwards. This is everyman, or everywoman going forwards, into the discovery of what properly are the Schumann resonances. Navigating the rhetorical snares of the language and lexicon is the hero's journey, in the Aquarian Age.
